Thriller Evaluation

We have each been told to make our personal evaluations of the project and how each of us feel it has gone. The Evaluation is suggested to contain 1500-2000 words in PowerPoint, working out roughly as 21 good, detailed slides.

The importance of a good evaluation is very clear, given the fact that it justifies one's grade to say the least. Without an evaluation, it is very difficult to come out with a good grade.

Our Evaluation deadline is a week today on Monday 29th March and consists of 7 different questions related to the coursework and what techniques we have used.

Editing - Colour Filters

We decided to make our scene with Tom in the shed in black and white to create a darker, more rough image so that it goes well with the rest of the filming. We found that the scene did not create enough tension and interest in colour quality. We edited parts of this scene into different places in the scene, with the detective working whilst the murder is taking place, switching between three different shots overall.

Font Change

We decided to change our font because we felt that our previous one didn't fit the opening well enough. We got our new font from www.dafont.com which is a good website with many different fonts from different genres to choose from. We chose our font from the 'Distorted' section to make it look scary and to stand out. The font is called 'SA Inkspot' and it goes well with our title of 'On The Rocks'. We have decided to use this font for the credits as well as the title.

Camera Issues Cont.

We went ahead and used Tom's camera for our filming because it was being recognized by the MAC computer. It wasn't until we tried to play our video files after we had filmed that we realised it didn't support the file type of MPG.
Due to this issue, we had to get the files converted to '.mov' so that they would play. Although converting the files muted all sound, it allowed us to use effective sound effects without worrying about any background sounds coming from the film.
It was also noticeable that the video quality had the tendency to become blurred at points where a character would enter the shot. We fixed this by going into the camera advanced effects and selecting a different style of viewing which completely removed the blur to make the shot clear and not off putting.

Camera Issues

We plan to use Tom's camera to film both scenes. We have been told to check our camera to make sure it is compatible with the software and the mac PCs themselves. This is because the frame rate may differ from the cameras used in college, thus the quality and picture may look poor and not smooth.
